Historic Sites decorated for the season
We are lucky to have so many wonderful historic sites near Solvang Farm. In Poughkeepsie, the Locust Grove Estate, extravagantly decorated for the holidays, is open for tours on December weekends. This year, the mansion’s 25 rooms are themed after popular Christmas carols. Just north of Poughkeepsie, in the Town of Hyde Park, resides two National Historic Sites, the F.D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site. Both sites host holiday open houses and will be decorated for the holidays beginning Friday, November 28, 2014. Slightly father north in Staatsburg, NY is the Staatsburg State Historic Site (Mills Mansion). Mills Mansion hosts "A Gilded Age Christmas" beginning November 28, 2014 when the mansions is lavishly decorated for tours Thursdays thru Sundays.
